Green Day - American Idiot

Green Day- (2004) American Idiot

GREEN DAY (American Idiot Review) Its anthemic pop-punk-rock concept songs are a relentless rush of energy, a must own (Rating 10/10)

Rush - 2112

Rush- (1976) 2112

RUSH (2112 Review) It lit the prog metal pilot light, and the title track’s energy & exploding crescendo are peerless (Rating 9/10)

2112 to me into serious music back in the early 70’s. Love the site.

King Crimson - In The Wake Of Poseidon

King Crimson- (1970) In The Wake Of Poseidon

KING CRIMSON (Poseidon Review) The “debut clone” remarks are irrelevant, as it uniquely floats lightly & hits hard (Rating 8/10)

Yes - The Yes Album

Yes- (1971) The Yes Album

YES (The Yes Album Review) A watershed crossover record, as it’s equally exciting for general rock fans & die-hard prog fans (Rating 10/10)

What’s wrong with the last song? I think “internal landscapes” is a beautiful song.

The spoken word/ narration dominates the song and comes across as overly trite/ cliche. I would have rather heard it as just as an instrumental or more singing from Cavanagh and Douglas. With no narration, I would have given the album a 9/10 Rating.

Curved Air - Second Album

Curved Air- (1971) The Second Album

CURVED AIR (Second Album Review) Sonja’s beautiful vocals give this prog effort a spark, but its flat playing fails to ignite it (3/10)

I think Curved Air are a hidden gem among early progressive bands. ‘Second Album’ is not their best effort, but they have some solid records… check them out.

Metallica - Ride The Lightening

Metallica- (1984) Ride The Lightening

METALLICA (Lightening Review) Rapid-fire riffs, intricate song structures & contrary to belief, it’s better than ‘Puppets’ (Rating 10/10)

Bad Religion- (1982) How Could Hell Be Any Worse?

BAD RELIGION (…Hell Be Any Worse Review) Some trademarks are present, but it lacks the signature sound of their future albums (Rating 5/10)

Jethro Tull - Stand Up

Jethro Tull (1969) Stand Up

JETHRO TULL (Stand Up Review) The signature “Tull texture” is missing, but every song hits with inventive instrumentation (Rating 8/10)

One of the best from England of it’s time and still is a pleasure to listen to.

Mastodon - The Hunter

Mastodon- (2011) The Hunter

MASTODON (Hunter Review) Less conceptual than past albums, but its toned up guitar & dynamic drumming make it cleaner & sharp (Rating 9/10)
